With us you can hire a local private captain/guide. Our guides will show you all the highlights and hidden treasures of Giethoorn. We will show you Giethoorn in 60 minutes

With our boat tour and our skipper at the wheel, you will slowly sail through the village canal of Giethoorn, so you can optimally enjoy the view of fairytale houses with thatched roofs. The shortest route through the village takes about 60 minutes. During these 60 minutes, our skipper will take you back to the boarding point via narrow canals, under bridges and over shallow lakes. Your captain will take you through the history of Giethoorn during the cruise.

What if the weather is bad?

If the weather does not permit, we can always offer you a tour in a covered tour boat, so you can see the same thing but with a roof over your head.

Evening cruise through Giethoorn

Have you ever been to Giethoorn at night? A small chance, because 98% of our visitors are day tourists. Sailing through the canal of an almost empty Giethoorn, who wouldn’t want that? From 2022 it will be possible to book an evening cruise with a skipper, as they are so beautifully called. After the majority of tourists have returned home at the beginning of the evening and the whisper boats are recharged for the next day, peace returns to Giethoorn for a while. This way you can hear the birds chirping again and the locals come out of their houses. Our skippers will take you on a boat trip of one hour. They will proudly tell you compelling stories about the history of our village. Stories that they have inherited from their grandfathers. The evening cruise takes place once per evening and there is room for a maximum of 6 people. Departure is in dry weather between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM and only in June, July and August.
